ITALOMODERN 1

Architecture in Northern Italy 1946–1976

Italomodern 1 examines the postwar architecture scene in Italy with its different groupings and stances. From their extensive archive, the Feiersinger brothers—one an architect, the other a sculptor—have selected 84 projects by neorealists and rationalists, brutalists and organicists, as well as designs that resist standard categorization. The projects are documented in photos, plans, and concise texts. The photographs depict the buildings in their present state. An essay by the architecture critic Otto Kapfinger rounds out the work.

First published in German in conjunction with the exhibition "Martin & Werner Feiersinger: Italomodern. Architektur in Oberitalien 1946–1976," shown at aut. architektur und tirol in Innsbruck (2012).
